The Orinoco Delta is, as it’s name says, a delta complex formed by the mouth of the Orinoco River in the Atlantic Ocean. This region covers the entire state of Delta Amacuro. Being considered one of the largest deltas in the world.

🌴It was declared a national park between 1991 and 1992 in order to preserve it’s swamp forest ecosystem with it’s diverse flora and fauna, as many of the species found here, are considered unique in the world or are in danger of extinction.

🌴Geographically, this region is made up of abundant lagoons, islands, and shallow channels, which are frequently flooded due to their proximity to the sea.

🌴The Warao indigenous people live in this area, and they still live in houses on stilts and depend on fishing, hunting, and gathering for their livelihood.
