Mérida was established in 1558 as “Santiago de los Caballeros de Mérida”. It’s one of the most important tourist destinations in the Venezuelan Andean region. Located between the mountainous areas of the La Culata páramo and the Sierra Nevada.

🌴The center of this city is framed by a series of colonial buildings that serve as the headquarters of important institutions such as: The Archbishop's Palace, The Government Palace, The University of Los Andes (ULA), and The Cathedral of Merida.
🌴Geographically, it’s located at an altitude of 1,820 meters above sea level and is home to the five highest mountain peaks in Venezuela, one of which is Pico Bolívar.
🌴This region is the homeland to the highest and longest cableway in the world: the Mukumbarí Cableway.
